KC Liner seals agency deal with premier Caribbean cargo carrier Geest Line
KC Liner Agencies, Scotland’s largest independent liner agency, has been appointed as Scottish agent for Geest Line, the premier shipping line to the Eastern Caribbean, as its growth continues.
The new partnership also marks a welcome return to the Scottish market for Geest Line after a ten-year absence.
The exclusive agreement between KC Liner and Geest Line will vastly improve links between Scotland and the Windward and Leeward Isles and deliver the fastest transit times for exporters and importers. Geest Line has fostered trade links between the UK and the Caribbean for more than 60 years and today carries more cargo between Europe and the islands than any other shipping line.
It operates four state-of-the-art vessels and is the only line sailing directly from the UK to the Eastern Caribbean ports, with no transhipments.
The independent shipping line offers a wide variety of cargo options, from containers to break bulk
and an industry-unique LCC Reefer service. It also operates an efficient inter-island service.
KC Liner - one of the UK’s fastest growing independent liner agencies - will handle all commercial sales, bookings and documentation in Scotland as agents for Geest Line.
Scott Parr, KC Liner Business Development Manager, said the new agreement will strengthen links and trade between Scotland and the Eastern Caribbean region.
Scott continued: “We are delighted to create a value added client service with our exclusive agreement with Geest Shipping Line. For the last decade the Scottish market has missed this prestigious brand and its wide range of services and it is great to see the company’s return.”
“Our appointment as Scottish partner means improved direct links from Scotland to the Eastern Caribbean, which is good news for exporters and importers throughout the Scottish market.”
Jeremy Bristow, Geest Line General Manager, said: “We welcome KC Liner as our new partner and look forward to a long and lasting relationship. It is great to be back in Scotland after a decade away. “Both our companies share the same values and vision and we look forward to building our operations serving the Scottish market.
Jeremy continued: “KC Liner is the perfect fit to help us deliver this. Over the last 30 years it has grown into one of the UK’S fastest growing independent Liner agencies with an unrivalled level of customer service that totally matches the Geest Line brand and business ethos.”
The origins of the Geest Line service lie in the shipment of bananas eastbound. Instead of the ships returning in ballast, it provided the perfect opportunity for establishing a general cargo service carrying everything from small packages to large project machinery.
The flexibility of the service is maintained today with a wide range of cargo carried by the line,
which can trace its history back to the 1930s.
